3 anemones

There are many varieties of anemones, but three are essential in the garden. This is thegreece anemone (Anemone blanda), anemone sylvie (Anemone nemorosa) and false buttercup anemone (Anemone ranunculoides). These cheerful 4-5cm sparkling flowers look like daisies. They are real ground covers, blooming in the colors white, pink, blue and yellow.

Go early in the spring in search of the vast expanses of color in the forest. There is a good chance you will find a group of wild anemones there.

A carpet of flowers with the anemone

Would you like to have anemones in your garden too? It's a good idea ! The anemone is actually perfect for the garden. If you plant them now, you will benefit from them for a long time, from March to April. Surprise yourself and plant them in groups. The reward will be a large carpet of flowers in your flower beds. And did you know that these mood-makers also naturalize? This means that they bloom again every year and that the carpet of flowers gets bigger every year because there are more and more of them. Not bad for these little ladies.

Good to know about the anemone

  • The greece and sylvie (yellow) anemones are members of the family of the buttercup just as happy.
  • After flowering, the plants retreat completely and no longer show themselves above the ground, until early spring.
  • These cheerful spring flowers are between six and eight inches tall.
  • There are several variations among anemone flowers, such as double flowers, single flowers, and extra large flowers.
  • Did you know that the flowers are directed towards the sun to capture as much heat as possible in the spring?
  • The most famous Greek anemone is the "Blue Shades" anemone. The name already says it: the flowers are blue.
